Wisconsin Badgers

With all the changes in college football these days from coaches leaving, to universities changing conferences for more money, the last thing you have is any loyalty these days. Insert Barry Alvarez of Wisconsin.
Barry Alvarez retired as head coach from the Wisconsin Badgers in 2005, yes, it's already been 7 years! Barry's hand-picked successor, Bret Bielema left abruptly after 7 years at the University of Wisconsin for the head coaching job at Arkansas Razorbacks. When teams make it to a BCS game and their coaches are hired for a different job, usually that coach sticks around to coach that game, however Bret isn't isn't coaching the Badgers in the Rose Bowl. Who steps up to the plate? Athletic Director Barry Alvarez.. Barry has remained a huge part of the Wisconsin Badgers as he has been their Athletic Director, so he has a significant interest in the outcome of the 2013 Rose Bowl. What is interesting about Alvarez coaching the Rose Bowl is the players for the Wisconsin Badgers convinced Barry to coach them for the BCS game, Alvarez is 3-0 in Rose Bowls. So maybe, just maybe college football has a little bit of loyalty left, or at least at the University of Wisconsin.
The 2013 Rose Bowl pits the Stanford Cardinal vs Wisconsin Badgers which is guaranteed to be an exciting match-up. The Stanford Cardinal comes off a PAC-12 conference title when they beat the UCLA Bruins in the PAC-12 conference championship game. The Wisconsin Badgers earned their spot to the Rose Bowl by crushing Nebraska Cornhuskers 70-31 in the Big 10 conference game.

BCS Bowl Games
Well after 14 weeks of the college football season, the BCS bowl games are set.
In the 2013 BCS National Championship title game the Alabama Crimson Tide will play Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida on January 7th, 2013. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish went undefeated at 12-0 and will make their first BCS National Title game appearance. The Alabama Crimson Tide earned their 3rd BCS National Championship game appearance in 4 years by beating the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game.
Several weeks ago Tickets Day predicted we would see the Oregon Ducks vs Kansas State Wildcats in the BCS title game. We got a match-up correct, but they're in the Fiesta bowl instead of the BCS National Championship game. The 2012 college football bowl season doesn't feature that many exciting games, however the Oregon Ducks vs Kansas State Wildcats fiesta bowl game is a must watch. First of all, Happy Holiday's and we hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Yes, despite the beautiful 70 degree weather Colorado has had, it is the holiday season. In this blog we will catch you up on all things related to Colorado sports and upcoming concerts.
Denver Broncos - Looks like the Denver Broncos will easily run away with the AFC West division. After today's win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Broncos improve to an 8-3 record in the AFC West division. 2nd place in the AFC West, the San Diego Chargers lost to the Baltimore Ravens in overtime with a 4-7 record. The Oakland Raiders also lost today to the Cincinnati Bengals dropping their record to 3-8. The Broncos will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday in Denver. If you're looking for more in-depth Denver Broncos coverage check out the blog at Predominantly Orange. We realize you have ESPN, and other local sources, but when Tickets Day wants our Bronco game recaps, we turn to Predominately Orange first.
Denver Nuggets - The Nuggets are off to a decent start with a 7-6 record and are currently putting a beating on the New Orleans Hornets. Colorado Rockies - In case you haven't heard, the Monfort brothers are aiming for 100 losses in the 2013 season, but hope to continue to draw the 30,000+ every night in attendance like they did in 2012... If you're hoping for a winning season, either check out spring training in Scottsdale, AZ, or opening day, April 5th, 2013 at Coors Field. After that, your hopes for a winning season will be burst. BCS National Title Game 2013
Week 13 of the college football season has concluded and Tickets Day needs a major mulligan from last weeks BCS blog. Denver Nuggets
Well Denver, winter in the mile high city has showed up, and our Denver Nuggets have kicked off their season. Entering this 2012-13 NBA season the Nuggets have high expectations with the arrival of Andre Iguodala. The Denver Nuggets have started their season with a slow start at 4-4, but don't worry Nuggets fans, we have a solid line-up. The Denver Nuggets after going to the Western Conference Finals in 2009, have been kicked out of the first round the last three years. NFL Week 10
With week 10 in the NFL regular season just about complete, which team was the biggest surprise? With half the season complete, who is your playoff favorites?
Three big surprises in week 10:
1) The Atlanta Falcons losing their first game to the New Orleans Saints.
2) The St Louis Rams at San Francisco 49ers ending in a tie game. You're probably asking yourself, how often do NFL games end in a tie? Great question, Sunday's Rams vs 49ers game was the third tie in an NFL game in 10 years. The last game was November 16th, 2010 Philadelphia Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals ended in a 13-13 tie.
3) Speaking of the Cincinnati Bengals, they're our 3rd biggest surprise of the weekend. Sure, Eli Manning hasn't playing well the last few weeks, but we're surprised how bad Cincinnati beat the New York Giants (31-13).
Playoff picture with half the season complete:
AFC- New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos will win their divisions, with the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers earning a wild card.
NFC- The NFC is tough this year as the division races are wide open besides the NFC South. Tickets Day predicts San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, and the Dallas Cowboys will win their divisions and the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks will earn wild cards.

With nearly half the NFL season completed, every year the topic arises, will there be a Manning in the Super Bowl? Eli Manning got his second ring in Super Bowl XLVI, and the New York Giants are off to a 6-2 start with the most impressive win coming week 6, at San Francisco 49ers with a 26-3 win. Let's now switch over to Peyton Manning... Did anyone hear about Peyton Manning in the off-season at all?? What about his 4-3 start with the Denver Broncos and his passer rating of 109, which by the way leads all QB's in the NFL... There was great debate whether Peyton Manning could return to his normal self after another neck surgery, much less ever play again. Tickets Day went to the last Denver Broncos game vs New Orleans Saints. Sure the New Orleans Saints defense isn't great, however let's give credit where it's due. Peyton torched the Saints defense with his 5th consecutive 300+ passing yard game and a 34-14 beating against the Saints in the Mile High city.

RIP NHL, November 1917 to November 2012
Today the NHL announced they were ending the league. On the same day Vince McMahon announced he was starting the XHL...
Only kidding, slightly... The NHL announced today they were canceling the Winter Classic which is the NHL's Super Bowl. We here at Tickets Day believe this will lead to the NHL's second full season lockout in 8 years. With the NHL still trying to recover from it's last full season lockout in the 2004-05, this will hurt the NHL even more. Most casual fans don't even know the NHL is locked out. When the NBA and NFL had their lockouts, everyone knew, it was constantly in the news.. With this NHL lockout, not a whole lot of people know about, nor do they really care. The NHL had several years to go before they fully recovered from their last lockout.
